  • I like Rachel’s cookbook, but it is not the best she has done. I think the cover of her is too painted and she looks far better with less makeup, have you heard Rachel, less is more. You should know that is also cohears in cooking.
Some dishes have too much of the hot spices, it seems as if it is a team through out her whole book, with the same hot spices. Sometimes simplicity goes a long way. 30 minutes meals, sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. I am looking at the aspects of 30 minutes meals, what Rachel does is buying some of it already pre made, well where is the joy in cooking in that. You have not even done it your self, how can you feel pride in serving that to someone. Rachel’s meals has so many cut corners that claiming that is taste as if it has been cooking all day is a fad. Cooking is a form of art, it should be a joyful moment. Well, is it fun to cook with Rachel, doubtful. It is a constant running around in the kitchen to make it happen in 30 minutes, don’t mind catching your breath there.
I have seen Rachel’s show, from the time she starts her 30 minute meal. Hmm. Yes, she opens her refrigerator and picks out everything she needs, which is already prepared and stacked on one side of in the refrigerator. Then she talks, and talks. Goes to the pantry, and pulls out everything she needs, which is everything that has been stacked there for her convienience, magically the pantry empties out. What reality is that, we all don’t have our pantry set up with the most needed parts, it is all a show, and no there is no 30 minute meals.
I have recently looked for cookbooks that is not promoted by a foodnetwork show and I found a brand new book called Catherine’s Kitchen 1420832123. It is no 30 minute meals but it has a lot of good tasty dishes that is well worth taking the time to make and will make you look like a celeb chef in the kitchen.

  • For everyone who thought they could never whip up something quick, easy and wonderful, that everyone in the family would love, BUY THIS BOOK! Everyone in my family loves the healthy colorful and yummy meals that I have done so far.

I am delighted with the book and the easy to understand instructions. Just like her show, she reminds us that going to extremes is not good for anyone.

It’s not over done or under done in trying to keep up with the “extremes” that many other authors are coming up with in the low carb craze which has turned out to be not so good for young children and siblings who are into heavy duty sports as in our family.

I love this book and I also love a book on family/moral values in parenting, Mommy-CEO,(Constantly Evaluating Others) 5 Golden Rules, by Jodie Lynn. Now, you can have the best of both worlds, a great easy to satisfy cookbook and a easy to follow family/parenting book, if you have kids ages 2 to 12. Actually, it was Mrs. Lynn who suggested Rachel Ray’s new book, in one of her parenting segments. And I think it is on her site.

With an extreme over-load in life with kids and many drop in friends, cooking made simple and healthy “without going to extremes” is a must.

Both books would make any mommy, mom or grandmother happy if they were given together for Mother’s Day.
